Buying & pricing
How do I start buying a sauna from Montana Sauna Company?
Book a design consultation. We call to talk through your project, qualify your site, and place your order. Then the build begins, and we deliver and install. That is the whole process: a design consultation, a site check, the order, the build, and delivery. Want to see what’s possible first? Design Your Dream Sauna lets you choose your model and options and see an estimate before your call.
How much does a Montana Sauna Company sauna cost?
The Model M starts at $20,000, the Model T at $30,000 and the Model N at $40,000. Mobile saunas start at $65,000 for the Mobile 10 and $85,000 for the Mobile 10C. Custom Footprints are quoted per project. Final price depends on size, heat source and the options you choose.
Do you sell sauna kits?
No. Every Montana Sauna Company sauna is built in Montana and delivered fully constructed, ready to set in place. Never kits, no shortcuts. If you are weighing a kit against a built sauna, our guide compares the two.
Site prep & delivery
What ground does my sauna need to sit on?
A level pad: gravel, concrete, or deck. That’s the ground you need to provide. We check your site before the order is placed, so you know what to prepare before delivery day.
Do you deliver across Montana and beyond?
Yes. We build in Montana and deliver nationwide, except Hawaii. Every sauna arrives fully built and is moved into place and installed by our crew.
What power does an electric sauna need?
An electric stove needs 50-amp service, plus a standard 20-amp circuit for lighting. A wood-fired stove needs no stove circuit. We confirm the requirements for your model when we qualify your site.
Models
What sizes do your saunas come in?
Electric or wood-fired: which heat can I choose?
We build with IKI stoves, electric or wood-fired. The Model M is electric only because of its size. The Model T, our most popular sauna, is offered with either. The mobile saunas use an IKI Plus wood stove, with a propane stove option. We help you choose based on your site, your power, and how you plan to use the sauna.
Custom
What is a Custom Footprint sauna?
A sauna designed around your space instead of one of our standard sizes: your footprint, your layout, electric or wood heat. Custom Footprints are quoted per project. We design it with you and build it in Montana.
What wood do you build saunas with?
Wood choice shapes how a sauna looks, smells and ages. Cedar, aspen, alder and thermally modified woods each behave differently in heat and moisture. Our guide covers the characteristics, origins and performance of each species.
Commercial
What is a commercial sauna from Montana Sauna Company?
Commercial saunas are typically highly custom saunas, indoor or outdoor, purpose built to handle frequent use. They suit gyms, hotels, resorts, companies, and people starting a public sauna house business. Tell us about your space and we’ll reach out to talk through your vision.
How much does a commercial sauna cost?
Every commercial sauna is quoted per project, based on size, heat source, whether it is built indoors or outdoors, and whether we build it on site or in our shop. Send us the details of your space and we’ll follow up with a quote.
How long does a commercial build take?
Our team of sauna builders can build a commercial sauna in 2 weeks or less. Total lead time from design to delivery varies. We run a first-in, first-out build queue based on when your down deposit is reserved, and we are typically booked 2–4 months out. Many sauna components are special order, with lead times of 8–16 weeks depending on what is ordered.
Can I get a sauna on a trailer for my business or event?
Yes. Our mobile saunas are built on a trailer: the Mobile 10 seats ten, and the Mobile 10C adds a changing area. Our rental sauna is a Mobile 10C, and we take commercial rental inquiries.
Rentals
How much does it cost to rent the sauna?
Our rental sauna is $400 a night Sunday through Thursday and $500 a night Friday and Saturday for residential use. Propane, towels and delivery within Missoula County are included, with no cleaning fee. A one-person cold plunge is $100 for the rental duration. Commercial use is quoted on request.
Do you deliver the rental sauna outside Missoula?
Yes. Delivery is free within Missoula County, Montana, and we regularly deliver to the Bitterroot, Kalispell, Whitefish, Flathead Lake, Bozeman and Big Sky. Farther away, a diesel charge is calculated from the delivery ZIP code and added to your booking automatically. If your ZIP code is outside our delivery radius, the booking form asks for your details and we reach out in under 24 hours.
Who fills the cold plunge?
You do. The one-person cold plunge add-on is $100 for the duration of your rental, and you fill and empty it yourself.
What is the cancellation policy?
Free cancellation up to 48 hours before your rental starts.
Is there a minimum number of nights?
There is no minimum rental length, but the minimum charge is one night. For extended use (more than one week), email paul@montanasaunacompany.com.
How much space do I need for the rental sauna?
The sauna is 20 feet long and about 14 feet tall. We need a reasonably flat area to park and level the trailer, plus a clear path to deliver it to your chosen spot.
Care
How do I keep my sauna clean?
The best way to keep your sauna clean is to use towels. We always sit on towels to avoid water marks on the benches and floor. You can also lay one as a skirt on the floor around the stove, but never leave towels unattended within 16″ of the stove. Sweep or vacuum a wood floor. For a Marmoleum floor, use a Swiffer mop: no chemicals, no steam. Sauna cleaners are available online; just make sure they contain no harsh chemicals.
Should I seal or stain the wood?
Not inside. Never paint, stain or chemically treat interior sauna wood, because it can release fumes when heated. Use towels to protect the benches, and lightly sand rough spots. The exterior of an outdoor sauna can be sealed with a natural wood protectant.
How long should a sauna session be?
A proper session to achieve the health benefits of the sauna requires 175–220°F and a minimum of 15 minutes. It may take you some time to build up to these minimums, and that’s okay. Listen to your body, drink water, and talk to your doctor first if you have a medical condition. We recommend attempting the minimums while sitting on the top bench. If the heat becomes intolerable, moving down to the lower bench provides some relief.
